Symposia Overview

The Regional Health Equity Symposia will offer engaging learning environments to share practical definitions of health equity and the National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service (CLAS) standards.  Participants will dialogue and exchange information about local challenges to achieving health equity and strategies for implementing CLAS.  Participants will leave knowing how they can create a positive and lasting change where they live, work, and play.  The agenda will include speakers from county health departments and academia working to achieve health equity in the state of Florida. 

Symposia Leaning Objectives

Participants who attend a Regional Health Equity Symposium will learn

1.      How to distinguish health equity from health disparities.

2.      How they can contribute to improving health equity in Florida.

3.      What is CLAS and how does it advance health equity

4.      How FPHA can support local communities advancing health equity and CLAS.

Who Should Attend

The symposia are open to ANYONE with an interest in health equity and CLAS.  Additionally, FPHA encourages public health practitioners, clinicians, researchers, community health workers, nonprofit partners, social workers, community and urban planners, and students to attend.
